# Muhammad and the Unity of God

Muhammad is honoured for articulating the oneness of God (Tawhid) and exemplifying virtues of dedication, compassion, and social justice. His life and teachings, which stress ethical conduct, community welfare, and the pursuit of knowledge, reflect UPL's emphasis on unity, ethical development, and enlightenment.

The Qur'an teaches that God is one and is the Light of the heavens and the earth, that there is no compulsion in religion, and that no soul bears the burden of another. Muhammad taught that the best people are those best in character, and that the merciful are shown mercy. He said that Islam is built on five things, among them daily prayer, the giving of alms, the fast and the pilgrimage, and these still shape the life of Muslims.
