# Shinsokan Meditation

Drawing from the Seicho-No-Ie tradition, Shinsokan meditation is recognised as a practice that cultivates an awareness of the unity of life and the universe. Through this meditation, practitioners can deepen their understanding of their inherent divinity and interconnectedness.

In practice a person sits upright, traditionally kneeling, joins the hands before the face, closes the eyes to the world of the senses, and contemplates the world of the True Image, the perfect world that Seicho-No-Ie teaches God created. A session lasts about thirty minutes. Seicho-No-Ie calls it a prayerful meditation. UPL takes up the practice and not the whole teaching behind it: it does not hold that illness or the material world is unreal.
