# Mindful Action and the Embodiment of Gratitude

Mindful action involves consciously directed behaviours that express the inner states of positive thinking and gratitude. It is about making choices that reflect an appreciation for life's abundance and a commitment to spreading kindness and compassion. This approach to action, informed by an attitude of thankfulness, calls for behaviours that support personal and communal well-being, embodying the divine light through service and positive interactions.

Several traditions teach what it is to act mindfully. The Bhagavad Gita tells the one who acts to give themselves to the task and to let go of its reward, and warns just as firmly against doing nothing. The Buddha counted right speech among the parts of his path: no falsehood, no talk that divides, no harshness, no idle chatter. Jewish teaching forbids speaking ill of another person even when what is said is true. Jesus asked that giving, prayer and fasting be done quietly, where no one is watching.
