Practices of Community Engagement
Group Meditation and Prayer
Regularly organised group meditations and prayer sessions serve as foundational practices for building community and fellowship. These gatherings harness the collective energy of the group, amplifying the intentions and spiritual experiences of the participants.
Study Circles and Spiritual Discussions
By engaging in shared study of sacred texts and spiritual discussions, members of the UPL community deepen their understanding of core principles and teachings. These gatherings encourage the exchange of insights, experiences, and interpretations, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Service and Philanthropy
Because right action is at the heart of karma and dharma, UPL encourages community initiatives aimed at service, philanthropy, and environmental stewardship. Through acts of collective service, the community embodies the principles of mindful action and positive thinking, impacting wider society in meaningful ways.
In Sikh practice service is given with one’s own hands, in the kitchen and the hall, to whoever comes. Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and told them to do the same for one another.
Celebrations and Rituals
Marking significant spiritual dates, transitions, and achievements with communal celebrations and rituals strengthens the bonds within the community, creating shared memories and reinforcing the collective identity as a spiritual family.
The celebrations that follow the cycles of nature are described in Mindful Interaction with the Environment.
